TOPIC: Late September Travel

Late September Travel 3 months, 3 weeks ago #35571

Hi There!

Im new to the community. I am planning a vacation for September 24th--- October 1st. I have been to WDW once before and that was in August 8th--- 12th of 2011. it was SO rainy all the time and if the sun did come out it was HUMID. I am from AZ so i dont know the meaning of humidity. But other than that it was very tolerable. But my main question is how different is August to late September? We did get park hoppers and stayed in the Hilton hotel that offers the EMH, which was nice! Any advice or tips would be wonderful. We really want to make the best of our vaca. Since the trip in August was too short for our liking. We missed SO much! we barely went into Epcot and Hollywood Studios and never saw illumiNations. We got the rides taken care of... sort of. but not all the must see shows and Down Town Disney. So any advice is welcome!

August and September seem the same to me and I live just a few miles from WDW. The humidity is pretty bad from around 11am to 4pm so if you can I would suggest this be the time you take a break, enjoy your resort pool etc. You will get to see more this time but keep in mind you will always feel like you missed something, don;t going manic thinking you have to see something or do something. Will you be staying on property this time?

I still havent thought about where we are staying... but we will most likely be at the hilton again. Since it worked great last time. Do you have any tips as far as how to plan it out? Ive been reading that it hurricane season peaks in September... but i will be going in Late September. And as far as the crowds go... how busy will it get?

Thanks Again!!

Late September will be less crowded because of the kids going back to school. I would suggest that you think about staying on property because you stayed off property last time, prices can be very comparable especially if you have an good travel agent working on your behalf. I feel it's a huge misconception that off property is cheaper. I would take any Disney Value Resort over most everything off property with the exception of Gaylord Palms or the Nickelodeon Suites. There's no obligation or pressure when using one of our agents and it might be worth your time just to see what they can offer: online Disney vacation quote. Sorry for the plug but it is the truth. Hurricane's can be a real threat but you really can't plan for that. My family and I went through hurricane Charlie at Disney's Coronado Springs and there was barely an interruption. We never even lost power, Disney was amazing in how they handled everything.

I agree and think late September is a great time to travel to WDW. You can never plan on the weather because it too unpredictable. I've been in September before and the crowd level is low and it's amazing. Combine that with maybe a few rain showers and you can walk right on some of the attractions.

The rain usually passes very quickly and Mickey Ponchos can be bought all over the parks.

It's always a good idea to book early to get your first pick at resorts.

I think it's a great idea to stay on Disney property too. You can't beat the free Disney Bus System!
We actually did off/on property during our last vacation and left the off property hotel a day earlier to stay an extra day at The Beach Club Resort. That's our family favorite so far!

Beach Club! Yep, I understand that one, only Bay Lake Towers comes close in our family. My kids were just recently asking me why we have not stayed there in awhile. I think what you guys did by staying off property and then even just 1 day there is smart, because when you stay at a resort like Beach Club you don't want to spend any time in the parks. We often stay at the resorts and spend no time in the parks at all.
