I ended up buying two tracphones for $20 and adding a total of $40 worth of minutes. I spent $60 bucks for a million dollars worth of piece-of-mind.

They can call me and tell me where they are if we get separated. All the numbers are on the phone for Mom, Dad and each other. Plus just hearing our voice will calm them.
